And really, when have they ever?  Economist Robert Reich points out the rising percentage of the nation’s wealthiest people who haven’t worked for their fortunes, but instead inherited them.  But when was the last time you actually heard about some rich guy actually working?  And no, I don’t mean going to an office and holding meetings where plans are made and ordered for putting laborers out of work in favor of slave labor in third world countries.  I’m talking about actual physical labor done for a living.

The answer to the question, of course, is never.  Rich people don’t actually work.  They don’t do physical labor in order to eke out a bare-subsistence living.  They jet off to resort towns, chat on the phone, sit in office meetings, and put people who actually do physical labor out of their jobs so they can use the money squeezed from that to buy their twelfth jet or their ninth McMansion.

It’s us poor folk who work.  We are the ones working in the mines and factories and on the farms doing the backbreaking labor.  We are the ones waiting tables, cooking food for others, grinding out prescription lenses, cleaning toilets, washing dishes, picking up trash, and so on.

So why is it that, despite being the biggest recipients and cheats of what we choose to call Welfare, the rich get away with lying about what they do to make their fortunes?  Why is it that they get away with lying about what we poor folk do to scrape by, while the rest of us are told to shut up and stop whining or else lose our jobs?

It’s because this country — hell, this entire fucking planet — is run by psychopaths.  The worst psychological aspect of these degenerates is that they don’t have empathy.  Ayn Rand, that heroine of extreme right-wing ideology, worshiped a serial killer, William Edward Hickman, whose notorious strangulation and dismemberment of a twelve-year-old girl earned him a one-way ticket to Hell.  Gushing about Hickman, she wrote, “Other people do not exist for him, and he does not see why they should.”  Rand went on to scrawl that Hickman possessed “no regard whatsoever for all that society holds sacred … He can never realize and feel ‘other people.'”

It’s this depravity that drives the warped thinking of today’s upper-crust sociopaths, and their view of the world colors how their lapdogs in the media and in the halls of power shape the way Americans think.  So lazy, non-working parasites who made their billions swindling working people out of their hard-earned money are transformed into “job creators” and “working people”, while those who ruin their bodies with backbreaking labor and often die earlier because of the sheer strain they put on those bodies, all for starvation wages, are morphed into layabouts sucking on the “teats” of the wealthy, who don’t actually pay for the social insurance programs we poor folk rely on to survive, and which we pay for with our tax dollars.

But try telling that to the cold-blooded ass clowns who are always screaming at people on government assistance to go out and get jobs that don’t exist, and who never actually hire any of us to work those jobs so we can earn enough to not have to rely on assistance.

I guess what I’m saying is, hearing about how rich people supposedly work and how “lazy” poor folk are, just pisses me off to no end, because it’s so much bullshit.
